Quick facts about the list
- Charizard appears three times: the Base Set card and both Mega Charizard-EX cards (X and Y).
- Eevee and all eight Eeveelutions are in the set: Eevee, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon (Dark Espeon), Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon and Sylveon.
- Pikachu appears twice: Pikachu & Zekrom-GX and Pikachu ex.
- Gengar, Mew and Mewtwo each have one deck (Gengar-EX, Mew ex, Rocket's Mewtwo ex).
- Snorlax and Squirtle are not among the 30 cards. Blastoise is.
The 3 gold chase decks
The chase decks are extra variants on top of the 30 standard designs:
- Printed in glitter gold foil.
- Each one shows a collage of 10 cards, using versions of the cards printed around the world (different languages).
- Each is limited to 500 decks worldwide, so there are 1,500 gold decks in total.
- They come in the same blind bags as the standard decks.
Santa Cruz has not published pull odds or the size of the standard print run. The only official rarity figure is the 500-per-variant cap on the gold decks.
Price: retail vs resale
The US retail price is $139.95 per blind bag deck. Some shops list the deck above that, and resale prices for sealed bags and specific designs, especially the gold decks and Charizard, are much higher. Blind bag sales are usually final, because the bag is sealed and the design is random.
Before you pay a premium:
- Sealed bags are random. A seller can't promise which design is inside a sealed bag.
- Opened decks are a known design. Ask for photos of the deck itself and the Player's Guide.
- The gold decks carry the "500 worldwide" claim. Check that the deck is glitter gold foil and shows a 10-card collage.
Where to buy them officially
Pokémon lists three places: Pokémon Center, the Santa Cruz Skateboards online store and local skate shops. Shops ran their own release rules on October 17, such as raffles, in-store-only hours and limits per customer. Check your local shop's channels for remaining stock.
Is it a real skateboard?
Yes. It is a full-size 8.0" x 31.6" Santa Cruz deck, sold as a deck only. Add griptape, trucks, wheels and bearings to ride it. Most buyers keep them sealed or display them.
